From my teens I knew Judaism wasn’t what it claimed to be: the one true revelation from the one true God to his one and only chosen people. Indeed, I knew that no religion was what it claimed to be, for each religion claimed to be true rather than a pointer toward a Truth that no ism or ideology could articulate let alone own. Knowing Judaism wasn’t true sent me on a quest to find what was. The more I studied, meditated, walked, and chanted the more at home I became in every religion, and the more heretical I became in each religion. While I cannot articulate The Truth, I can share the four truths of Perennial Wisdom revealed to in every religion: Reality is one, and we are each a manifestation of it; as a manifestation of the One we can know the One directly; When we know the One directly we live a life of compassion and justice toward all beings; and Knowing the One and living this life is the highest calling of every human being. This is Perennial Wisdom, and it and it alone makes sense to me.
